I've discovered that the data limit for these posts is pretty small so I'll have to split some months up a bit.
I've been working on a few 2D foreground assets (for the first area) too, including the player's tomb, the appearance of which I based off of a few real world Greek tombs from the same period:
I've also made a few of the trees that I'll be needing for the forest area. All of these are meant to be Turkish oaks, and I've been looking at some real world references for these too (basically they have more of a central collumn than English oaks tend to, but the older ones still have that kind of gnarled quality to their brances). There are currently 156 others but I didn't want to fill this blog with tree silhouettes:
I've also made an animation background which will serve for all player character and NPC animations in future (it includes height and ground measurements so that I can track movement in whatever direction and make sure motion is fluid so that I can have them move over the ground at the right speeds). I've finished player character animation loops and have started on running animations, though I'm focusing on the first environment for now as I'd like to have a walkthrough of that fairly complete before moving on to later stuff and over-stretching myself.
